8 years Old!!!

Happy 8th Birthday Kaleb!! Boy, is time a flying by! It's hard to believe that 8 years has passed. Kaleb was so excited to celebrate his 8th birthday. Turning 8 years old is a huge milestone in our families lives because we believe that the person that is turning 8 is finally old enough to be accountable for their choices. It is also an age where in our religion that we believe that we are old enough to decide to be Baptized and receive a special gift from our Heavenly Father- a gift that is called, "The Gift of the Holy Ghost." Kaleb has been very excited to get baptized. He was also excited to have a party with his friends.

This year for Kaleb's 8th Birthday he chose to have a Bowling Birthday party. Kaleb invited 6 of his friends to join him and go bowling for his special day. I found some really cute bowling invitations online and we sent those out.

This birthday was probably the easiest birthday party that I have had to plan yet for our kids. I was grateful that Kaleb chose an easy way to celebrate this year because I found out I would be having my gallbladder removed a week after the party was held because I was having terrible pains in my back after eating. It was horrible.

I had seen a cute bowling shirt that someone had showcased on a blog online and I wanted to make one for Kaleb to wear to his party. I was feeling pretty lousy but pushed through the pain and sewed him a cute bowling shirt. Kaleb was really thrilled with it and was so excited to wear it on the day of his party. I am so grateful that he still enjoys when I sew him things!

On the day of the party, the kids arrived and we opened presents, ate cake and ice cream and then headed to All Star Lanes Bowling in Sandy.

Kaleb and his friends had a wonderful time bowling. It was so fun to watch them bowl and try to beat their scores. Karmindy also had a fun time bowling and enjoyed hanging out with her older brothers friends. She thought she was pretty important!!

Kaleb said it was his best birthday yet and I am so glad that his day was a fun one! Mission Accomplished! Happy 8th Birthday Kaleb! We LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!

Kaleb's Baptism Pictures

This past fall, a friend in our ward took our Family pictures up at the Daybreak Lake in South Jordan and they turned out so wonderful that I decided that I wanted her to take some pictures of Kaleb to showcase at his baptism.  Kaleb and I decided that it would be fun to have his baptism pictures taken at "OUR TEMPLE" aka the Oquirrh Mountain  Temple. It is the temple we see everyday and it has been a blessing to have a temple so close to our home. It is seriously only 5 minutes away.

Prior to having Kaleb's Pictures done, there were several snow storms so I was nervous that we weren't going to be able to get his pictures taken outside because of inclement weather but on the day of pictures it turned out to be a beautiful day. It was cold, very cold but Kaleb was a trooper and was a great subject to photograph.

Lauren Perry did a wonderful job in capturing Kaleb at this tender age of Eight. These pictures are pictures that I will treasure for years to come. In fact, while taking these pictures of Kaleb, I became a little teary-eyed because I can't believe how fast time has flown. It was a confirmation to me that Kaleb is growing up and becoming a little man/grownup each day and in a few more years will be out on his own, whether it is serving a mission, going to college or raising a family of his own. It just made me so grateful as a mother to have him in my life. What a special son he is. I am truly proud of my sweet boy.
